Review – The Fallen King (IDWMA #8) by Rhiannon Frater

Beautiful lonely girl in long dressWhat can I say about this installment of In Darkness We Must Abide?  Heartbreaking, check.  Scary, check.  Sexy, check.

From Goodreads: “With the life she carefully constructed in Austin now in shambles, Vanora returns home to Houston with the intention of saving her brother from the unseen forces gathering against him. The journey home is perilous, but Armando is at her side, protecting her against all harm. Yet, the vampire may not be able to protect her from the darkness about to consume everyone she loves, and she can’t trust her own heart that yearns for him.”

Vanora is headed down a dark path and I’m not sure where Rhiannon plans for her to end up.  I only hope that, if she does make it, she still has her sanity.  I’m not sure I would given everything that she has been through thus far.

The Fallen King says it all and I will stay away from spoilers.  Vanora is back in Houston in her family home.  But, trouble has found its’ way to the Socoli mansion.  I will say that I am surprised that I actually didn’t hate Carlotta quite as much as I did in the past.  While she’s probably a psychopath, she does at least seem to truly love Roman.  But, don’t worry, there are plenty of other crazy vamps to take her place as one of the baddies.

5/5 stars for a great installment.  Wishing for the next one soon so I can get this knot out of my stomach (maybe?  please…Rhiannon?)
